Writing the Body: Characterization from the Inside Out
Gina Frangello is the author of the critically acclaimed novel A LIFE IN MEN, as well as SLUT LULLABIES, and MY SISTER'S CONTINENT. She is teaches at UC Riverside's MFA program. Her forthcoming novel, EVERY KIND OF WANTING comes out this September with Counterpoint Press.
The human body’s wide array of extremes, from illness to disability to intense sexual desire, is often skirted in literature. How do we render the body in flesh and blood on the page, from pain to bliss?
Join critically acclaimed author and creative writing professor Gina Frangello for a 90 minute online class, where we will explore this risky and powerful terrain, and learn how to effectively tap into our own body-writing.
This course will include the following:
- A 60-minute interactive craft lecture: “Writing the Body"
- 2 guided writing prompts
- Opportunity to share your work and get feedback from peers
As part of this class you'll also get access to Decant's private Facebook group for ongoing peer support and community building. Writing can be lonely -- when it’s just us and our C: Drives -- and we want to foster a writing community where we'll all have the necessary support to finish the next draft.
