THE NOVEL WORKSHOP

Summer, 2017

 

Designed for writers with novels in progress, this 8 week online workshop offers the level of intimacy and thoughtful scrutiny associated with graduate classes -- you'll get the MFA experience without paying MFA prices. 

  • Workshops are capped at 8 students. 
  • Each student will have their writing work-shopped twice via interactive video chat during the 8 week course.
  • The course includes weekly MFA style craft lectures to help students deepen their understanding of the art of the novel, as well as learn new skills to help them in their writing and revision.

Meet the Instructor

Joshua Mohr is the author of the memoir "Sirens" (2017), as well as five novels including "Damascus", which The New York Times called "Beat-poet cool." He’s also written "Fight Song" and "Some Things that Meant the World to Me," one of O Magazine’s Top 10 reads of 2009 and a San Francisco Chronicle best-seller, as well as "Termite Parade," an Editors’ Choice in The New York Times.  His novel "All This Life" won the Northern California Book Award. He is the founder of Decant Editorial.

In addition to his work at Decant, Josh teaches creative writing at Stanford University, the University of San Francisco and the San Francisco Writers Grotto.
